What the hell is MD5?



It's a fingerprint of a file. The idea is the following:

I create a file and calculate its fingerprint. Now when I upload it to Megaupload there may be errors while transferring the file from my computer to the Megaupload server. To see if the file was received exactly the way it's stored on my computer, I check if the fingerprint of the uploaded file is the same.

And when you download the file from Megaupload, there can be errors during the transfer as well. To ensure you received the file without any error, you can now calculate it's fingerprint and check if it's the same as the ones above.

If a file has an incorrect fingerprint, you have to re-download that file (because your download was broken and the file you received is worthless).


Software to calculate MD5 fingerprints

Windows:
Our little batch (which uses fsum). Just extract the files into the same folder where you downloaded the avps files and run "testdownload.bat":

    I tried to make the DVD but I can't. I think one of the files are corrupted. Can I ask you to control them? Pleeease! And as always, thanks for the work you've done!

    There was most likely an error with your download. You can check your downloaded files by extracting this archiv into the same directory and run: "testdownload.bat" (assuming you are running a Windows machine):

    Well, I guess it probably wasn't such a good idea to make the parts so big (1GB).
    We are currently re-uploading it in 200MB parts.

    Anyway, please check the signature (MD5) of your downloaded parts. You can use the "testdownload.bat" from here:
    http://bit.ly/epseQB

    or any other software which can calculate the MD5 hash of a file. Just google it.

    If any part has an incorrect checksum, you have to redownload that part again.

    Hi! Thanks for all your hard work uploading and subbing this thing, some parts are really hard to catch and the subtitles help a lot :D Um is it possible to provide a subtitle file to go with the DVD? Preferably softsubs, if possible, so people don't have to re-download it >< The current ones provided are split into parts and I don't think they fit?
